
About Me
My name is Oscar Jasso
I'm a Game Level Designer with experience in several projects, from AAA to smaller-scale projects under the "indie" specter, as well as working with large data science companies and other industries leading tech projects, including the design of chatbots, game-like simulators, and educational programs, better known as "serious games".
Renowned for my ability to craft levels that are both concise and visually captivating, I prioritize functionality while ensuring each design remains visually compelling. My expertise spans composition, metrics, and layout design, augmented by proficiency in programming mechanics and scripting tools (visual/code).
In my spare time, I love to create scenarios and test new mechanics, modeling environments inspired by my favorite games, to shape new worlds that can be fully explored and interacted with. I draw, illustrate, and play guitar.
I'm based in Mexico City and mostly work remotely, and I'm interested in working on new and interesting projects where I can collaborate with my knowledge and creativity.

With the aim of specializing in game-dev and shape my future career, I moved to Canada for two years to take a post-graduate course Game Level Design, where I learned about level design, coding, 3D modeling and earned many other skills through the participation in multiple game prototypes, game jams, and a capstone project.

B.S: Industrial Engineering
Autonomous Metropolitan University, Mexico City
Obtained the Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering (Lic. en Ingeniería Industrial) at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in México. During my senior year, I did an internship at Shell, where I worked as a Business Analyst for 5 years, before embarking on new adventures to become a full-time game developer.

Obtained the Diploma certificate for a 10 month Project Management program, focused on the PMI techniques for the traditional and agile methodologies of project development and management

3D Level Designer
Amber Studio
I have participated in two AAA projects, co-developed by Amber and major studios for important mobile franchises. My work concentrates in the creation of the arenas, levels and scenarios where I prototype gameplay and new mechanics, balancing of difficulty, documentation and regular playtesting, using commercial engines and proprietary tools, specially created for those games. Recently, I participate in the creation of prototypes for proposal to clients about new games.

My role as Applied Innovation Lead consisted of the research and implementation of new technologies or developments to create additional value in Data Science operations, from the creation of in-house A.I. assistants to virtual game-like simulators for training and recruitment.

Commercial Advisor of a Natural Gas, Midstream company. I acquired solid skills of negotiation, development of business cases and participated on large scale infrastructure projects.

I collaborated with Dark Dust Studio, Nuke Games and Video Game Makers Academy as part-time professor, while participated as a freelance game developer in a few in-house developments.
